This guide covers how to mount your sign using the standoff screws (also called advertising screws) included in your Nightglow package. It's a straightforward process, and the result is a clean, professional installation that looks polished from every angle.

You should have the following tools and material ready to wall mount your sign.

Step 1 — Mark Your Wall
Hold your sign up to the wall in the exact position you want it. Take a moment here — check that it's level and centred where you'd like it. Once you're happy with the placement, use a pencil to mark the wall through the centre of each mounting hole on the acrylic backing.
Step 2 — Drill Your Holes
Set your drill to a 0.9cm (9mm) bit and drill into each pencil mark. Go straight in and keep steady — clean holes make the rest of the steps easier.
Step 3 — Insert the Drywall Anchors
Take a plastic drywall anchor and push it firmly into each drilled hole. If it's a snug fit, use a hammer to tap it flush with the wall. The anchor gives the screw something solid to grip, especially important on drywall where the screw alone won't hold securely long-term.

Step 4 — Attach the Spacers
Place your wall screw inside its spacer, then drill the assembly into the wall anchor. Repeat for each mounting point. The spacers create a small gap between your sign and the wall — this is what gives the sign that floating, three-dimensional look that makes LED neon signs stand out.
Step 5 — Add the Jelly Washers and Hang the Sign
Place a jelly washer on top of each spacer. Then carefully line up the holes in your acrylic sign with the spacers behind it and set the sign in place. The jelly washers cushion the acrylic and protect it from scratching against the hardware.
Step 6 — Secure the Caps
Screw a cap nut tightly onto each spacer to lock the sign in position. Don't overtighten — firm is fine. Once all caps are secured, give the sign a gentle tug to confirm it's stable.

Tips for the Best Result
- Check your wall type first. This guide is written for standard drywall. If you're mounting into concrete, brick, or tile, you'll need masonry anchors and a masonry drill bit instead.
- Use a level. Eyeballing it rarely ends well. A small bubble level or your phone's level app takes 30 seconds and saves a lot of frustration.
- Mind the cord. Once your sign is mounted, think about how the power cord will run to the outlet. For a cleaner look, check out our guide on how to hide your neon sign cord.
- For storefronts and commercial installs: If you're hardwiring your custom neon sign into a junction box rather than using the plug-in cord, that work needs to be done by a licensed electrician — it's a regulated electrical installation. The plug-in method in this guide is unregulated and DIY-friendly.
You're Done — Now Plug It In
Once everything is secured, plug your sign into the nearest outlet, flip the switch, and enjoy it. The standoff mount gives your LED neon sign a premium, gallery-style finish — it sits off the wall with depth and dimension rather than sitting flat.
